You have picked your games, booked your date, and now you are staring at your backyard, venue lawn, or event space wondering: will everything actually fit? It is the most common question we get, and the answer is simpler than you think.
Here is the complete guide to space requirements for every giant lawn game we offer, plus layout tips for different venue types.
Space Requirements Per Game
Each game needs a play area plus a buffer zone around it for players and spectators. Here are the exact dimensions:
| Game | Play Area | With Buffer |
|---|---|---|
| Giant Jenga | 3 x 3 ft | 10 x 10 ft |
| Cornhole | 8 x 30 ft | 12 x 35 ft |
| Giant Connect Four | 3 x 4 ft | 8 x 10 ft |
| Yard Pong | 6 x 20 ft | 10 x 25 ft |
| Bocce Ball | 10 x 60 ft | 14 x 65 ft |
| Giant Chess | 8 x 8 ft | 12 x 12 ft |
| Yardzee | 6 x 6 ft | 10 x 10 ft |
| Ring Toss | 4 x 15 ft | 8 x 20 ft |
| Ladder Toss | 4 x 20 ft | 8 x 25 ft |
| Croquet | 30 x 60 ft | 35 x 65 ft |
| LED Games | Same as above | Same as above |
The buffer zone matters. Giant Jenga only takes up 3 square feet of floor space, but you need room around it for 6-10 people standing, watching, and dramatically leaping backward when the tower falls. Cornhole needs the most length because the boards sit 27 feet apart in regulation play.
Space Requirements Per Package
If you are booking a package, here is how much total space you need with games laid out side by side with walking paths between them:
| Package | Games | Recommended Area |
|---|---|---|
| Starter (3 games) | Giant Jenga, Cornhole, Ladder Toss | 20 x 40 ft |
| Classic (5 games) | + Connect Four, Yard Pong | 30 x 40 ft |
| Legend (8 games) | + Bocce, Croquet, Yardzee, Tic-Tac-Toe | 40 x 60 ft |
| Glow (5 LED) | LED Jenga, Cornhole, Ring Toss, Yard Pong, Dice | 30 x 40 ft |
These are comfortable recommendations, not bare minimums. You can fit games into tighter spaces by staggering them or skipping the longest games like bocce and croquet.
Layout Tips by Venue Type
Backyard Parties
Most suburban backyards can handle 3-5 games comfortably. Place Giant Jenga near the patio or deck where people naturally congregate. Set cornhole along the longest open stretch. Tuck shorter games like Yardzee and Ring Toss along the fence line. Avoid placing games near flower beds, pools, or anything fragile.
Parks and Open Fields
Space is rarely an issue at parks. Spread games out more than you think you need to. Clusters of 2-3 games with 20 feet of open space between clusters feels more like an event and less like a garage sale. Make sure you are on flat ground, not a slope.
Wedding Venues
Most wedding venues have a lawn area near the cocktail hour setup. That is where games go. Talk to your venue coordinator about exactly which lawn area is available. Avoid blocking walking paths between the ceremony site and reception space. We handle placement at every delivery and can adjust based on your venue layout.
Corporate Event Spaces
For corporate events on rooftops, patios, or parking lots, the key consideration is the surface. All our games work on grass, concrete, asphalt, and composite decking. Avoid gravel and sand for games with rolling elements like bocce. On rooftops, check weight limits with building management, though our games are standard furniture weight.
Surface Requirements
Not all surfaces are created equal. Here is what works and what to avoid:
Best surfaces: Flat grass, level concrete, patio stone, composite decking. These work for every game.
Good surfaces: Short artificial turf, packed dirt, flat sand. Most games work fine, but bocce and croquet play better on grass.
Challenging surfaces: Gravel, tall grass, slopes steeper than 5 degrees. Giant Jenga needs a level surface or the tower leans before anyone touches it. Cornhole works on almost anything.
What If My Space Is Smaller Than Recommended?
We have set up games in surprisingly tight spaces. Here are your options:
Swap long games for short ones. If you do not have 60 feet for bocce, swap it for Yardzee which only needs 10x10. Same fun, smaller footprint.
Stagger game placement. Games do not need to be in a grid. Place them at angles, in an L-shape, or scattered across separate areas of your venue.
Use separate zones. Put cornhole on the front lawn and Jenga on the back patio. They do not all need to be visible from one spot.
Ask us. When you book, tell us your venue dimensions and we will recommend the best game mix for your space. We have done this thousands of times and can optimize any layout.
The most common mistake is overestimating how much space you need. If you have a standard suburban backyard, you can fit 3-5 games. If you have a venue lawn, you can fit the full Legend Package with room to spare.
